Phila Madlingozi returns to television screens with a brand new gig.

Intersexions actor and son of legendary singer, Ringo Madlingozi, Phila Madlingozi is set for his next television gig.

But this time he'll be attempting to sweep  South Africans off their feet by singing his heart out on Idols SA.

Madlingozi auditioned for the hit South African reality show on the 31st of January in Pretoria and impressed judges with his rendition of Donny Hathaway's, A Song For You.

SA Idols publicist Kebeileng Makgotlho has confirmed that Madlingozi auditioned for the show and has received a golden ticket.

The film and TV production graduate was coy about his audition at first but revealed to Drum that he has always wanted to sing on the show.

"Idols is the biggest platform to showcase musical talent and I've always wanted to be a part of it," he said

Madlingozi is also excited about the prospects and exposure that comes with being a contestant.

"I want to learn. I want to know more about my voice and growing it. I'm excited about how this opportunity will advance my singing career."

Idols SA  is set to return to our screens in July on MNet and Mzansi Magic. The final auditions will be taking place this Sunday at Carnival City in Johannesburg.

We wish Phila all the best on his journey.
