Two second-half goals from Orlando Pirates helped the Buccaneers to a 2-0 win over Wits in their MTN8 semi-final, first leg match at Bidvest Stadium on Sunday.

With the sides locked at 0-0 at half-time, the Soweto outfit stepped up a gear after the interval.

Siyabonga Sangweni scored the opener for Pirates in the 56th minute. From a Daine Klate corner, Sangweni converted from close range to take a 1-0 lead for his side.

Thabo Matlaba added a second for Pirates in the 73rd minute. Sifiso Myeni sent a probing ball through to Matlaba who found the target to make it 2-0 to Pirates.

Wits were unable to get a goal back, and now face a stiff task in the away leg next weekend.
