"I had so much planned for the show."

On Friday, 25 November, the 7th annual Hip-Hop show Maftown Heights was shut down 30 minutes before its scheduled climax due to a resident’s alleged noise complaint. Cassper Nyovest and Hip Hop Pantsula were scheduled to close the show when the police pulled the plugs. “Most awkward moment. I had so much planned for the show. Cops shut us down, couldn’t do anything. So sorry, Maftown Heights,” Cassper said afterwards.

The Maftown Heights organisers later sent a press release apologising for the incident saying, “The police shut us down 30 minutes earlier than we were supposed to because of an alleged resident’s noise complaint. Sadly this impacted our very special show-closing Cassper Nyovest and Hip Hop Pantsula performances we had planned for you. We would like to take this opportunity to apologise to both the two artists in question as well their valued and loyal fans. What happened was beyond our control.” Pictures from Maftown Heights
