President Zuma question time delayed

President Jacob Zuma's response to questions in the National Assembly was delayed on Wednesday.

Forty minutes after the session started, at 3pm, opposition MPs were rising on points of order to dispute Speaker Baleka Mbete's ruling that the questions Zuma was set to answer would not include those of August 21 last year.

Whether these would be carried over would be discussed at a programming committee meeting on Thursday morning, she told the House.

Her ruling on this incensed Economic Freedom Fighters MP Mbuyiseni Ndlozi.

"We don't agree these questions must be postponed to a programming committee... Our position is the president is here, and he must take the platform, and continue where the [August 21] session ended," he insisted.
