Racial slurs from Argentine fans

Two Argentine soccer fans are being investigated by Rio de Janeiro police for allegedly shouting racist slurs at Brazilian fans supporting Bosnia-Herzegovina in a World Cup match against Argentina.

A police statement confirms this happened on Sunday at Maracana stadium.

The police refused to disclose the identities of the two Argentinian fans and said they were released after being questioned.

Brazil newspaper O Estado de S.Paulo said the two men shouted "little monkeys" at a group of Brazilians who were cheering for Bosnia after its second-half goal.

Brazilian organizers are said to be using the World Cup to draw attention to the country's racial diversity.

President Dilma Rousseff has called on foreign visitors to help promote a tournament that would be free of racism and prejudice.
