Rihanna joins The Voice

According to an announcement made by NBC president, Robert Greenblatt, Rihanna will be a key advisor on the new series of 'The Voice'.

The multi-award winning musician is set to offer help and support to aspiring singers on the ninth season of the show, Sowetan Live reported on Friday.

Her predecessors are Taylor Swift, Nate Ruess and Coldplay singer Chris Martin who have all been key advisors on the show over the last three seasons.

''We landed Rihanna to be the key advisor to all the coaches this fall. ''This is one of music's true supervisors coming on board to influence the lives and careers of the performers,'' network president Robert Greenblatt said.

Rihanna is expected to mentor contestants from all four teams in her role as key advisor during the knockout rounds of the competition. The four teams are led by coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani and Pharrell Williams
