A man was seriously wounded when an explosive went off in his face near Taung, North West police said on Friday.

Captain Tselane Nkala said the cattle herder found 200 detonators in a Sasol-branded box, on a farm near the Brits toll plaza, along the N4, on Thursday.

He sustained burns to his face, legs, and hands and was taken to Brits hospital. According to the note on the box, it was meant to contain 400 detonators.
