Siyabonga Twala is a wanted man after speeding away from a fine.

Former Generations star and current leading man in Mzansi Magic's Isibaya is wanted by the KwaZulu-Natal Road Traffic Inspectorate.

The Star reports that Twala was caught travelling at a speed of 153km/h in a borrowed car when he was stopped by officers on the N2 near Ballito yesterday.

Spokesperson for the Inspectorate Zinhle Mngomezulu told the newspaper that the officer "took Twala's details and handed his license back to him, but Twala failed to wait to receive his R1 500 fine for speeding."

The incident is reported to have occurred before 10 in the morning and the Inspectorate takes the incident as a serious offence.

"He can be arrested because he failed to comply with the lawful instructions of an officer," continued Mngomezulu.

The actor claims to have been rushing to a meeting with his HOD (Head Of Department) when he was stopped.

Meanwhile, the JMPD (Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department) has R2 billion owed to them by motorists who fail to pay fines.

The backlog has been caused by the JMPD's system of delivering fines via the post but these have gone unanswered because of the national Post Office strikes.

As a result, 1 028 000 notices could not be delivered which has hiked up non-compliance with the law to 96%.

Spokesperson of JMPD, Wayne Minnaar, has told Drum that there needs to be changes in the Adjudication of Road Traffic Act (AARTO) which governs the delivery of fines.

"There should be an amendment to the act so that it can accommodate the metro police," said Minnaar.

Minnaar did not comment further on what these amendments should be.
