Sizzling steak braai

The weekend is here and what could be better than putting a steak on the grid while the kids play outside? The Checkers in-house Giggling Gourmet, Jenny Morris, tells you exactly how to braai your Steakhouse Classic sirloin to perfection.


  • 1 whole Steakhouse Classic sirloin (exclusive to Checkers)
  • 15 ml (1 T) olive oil
  • 30 ml (2 T) ground cumin
  • 15 ml (1 T) ground white pepper
  • salt to taste


  • Oil the steak and score the fat.
  • Then, just before you put it on the fire, rub in the olive oil, cumin, pepper and salt.
  • Braai to your liking.

Top tip:

The secret to the perfect steak on the fire or gas braai is to make sure the grid is really hot.
