Kaya FM will not be taking comedian, Skhumba off-air following a petition to have him removed from the station.

The petition came after Skhumbuzo Hlophe (real name) mocked topless protesters at the Wits #FeesMustFall march last week.

While others called for his head, other fans stood by the comedian, creating a #HandsOffSkhumba hashtag.

Speaking to Tshisa Live on Monday, Kaya FM's head of programming Neil Johnson confirmed that they had met with Skhumba. "We cannot get into the specifics of what was discussed but we asked him to publicly apologise for his comments on air- which he did- in addition to the public apology he had already given on social media," Neil said.

He also added that no further action would be taken against Skhumba. "No further sanctions will be taken against him."

Hlophe took to Instagram to share an encrypted post without a caption:
