RED lipstick, big afros, gold tsupnizers, gaudy plastic jewellery and sleeping with her ex son-in-law . . . there’s always something to talk about when Mam’ Ruby appears on screen.

No wonder Generations addicts have taken to the sassy shebeen queen like mince to vetkoek!

Slindile Nodangala (38) is basking in her newfound fame when we meet up with her at popular Soweto eatery Sakhumzi’s.

She’s mobbed the minute she walks in by fans hoping to have their photograph taken with her or get an autograph. And the gracious actress obliges them all, putting on her best Mam’ Ruby smile.

“The fans are the people who make us who we are,” she says.

“They don’t want to hurt us; they simply want to show their love and appreciation.”

But viewers aren’t always so kind. After Mam’ Ruby and Kenneth (played by Seputla Sebogodi) had a one-night stand Sli, as she’s affectionately known, says some overzealous followers spotted her at a funeral and swore at her in front of other mourners.
