A city in South Korea has introduced larger parking spaces for women drivers.

The South Korean capital of Seoul has introduced women-only parking spaces which are eight inches wider than regular spaces and feature pink dividing lines and brighter lighting.

The car parking spaces, dubbed "she-spots", have been introduced in the Southeast Asian country's capital city of Seoul and are eight inches wider than regular spaces.

They also have pink dividing lines and a pink symbol of a woman wearing a skirt marked on the spot in the same way disabled spaces are displayed.

Critics have branded them "patronising, sexist and pointless", but the authorities in Seoul say the spaces will also be made closer to shops and will have better lighting for safety reasons, according to the Daily Mirror newspaper.
