police said on Saturday.

Two men had entered a hardware store on Friday and held employees at gunpoint, said Brigadier Selvy Mohlala.

The woman later died at hospital.

The robbers took an undisclosed amount of money from the till and ran off.

Police nearby were alerted. The suspected robbers were spotted and police followed them.

Police found a firearm on the deceased.

"The police worked tirelessly and managed to secure information that led to the arrest of the second [alleged] villain," said Mohlala.

Cash that was found in his possession was believed to have been from the store.

The man is due to appear in the Bushbuckridge Magistrate's Court on Monday facing charges of murder, business robbery, unlawful possession of firearm and ammunition.
