A 36-year-old man was arrested at the Bester Taxi Rank in Durban after he was found to be in possession of drugs, including five straws of heroin and R898 in cash.

The SAPS says the estimated street value of the drugs are R125 000, and they believe the money apprehended from the suspect was proceeds of drug-trading. The Durban South K9 Unit, together with Phoenix Crime Prevention Unit, was conducting their search on Wednesday afternoon when they apprehended the suspect.

KZN Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni says they would be returning to the taxi rank to ensure that drug-dealing is stopped.

“We will continue to arrest criminals who are determined to destroy our community with drugs and make sure they are behind bars,” she says.
