This we find out when we meet Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson at a press conference in Jozi to promote the third season of Empire – the show they star in as former spouses, Cookie and Lucious. In between jokes and laughter, the pair spoke candidly about each other and being in South Africa for the first time.

“It’s nice to come home, and I just found out that my great-grandmother was originally from Cameroon, so being here is awesome,” Taraji revealed.

She also spoke about her book that she’s releasing in October about her life, struggles, losing her father and the challenges of being a single mom.

The actress made in onto this year’s TIME Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People list.  Meanwhile, Terrence said he also loves being in SA, especially after he played Nelson Mandela in the biopic Winnie Mandela.

When asked about his experience and speaking isiXhosa, the 47-year-old said it was an awesome experience.  “Speaking in a native language was important for me, because Nelson Mandela spoke it at home, so to make my role authentic, I had to,” he said before perfectly pronouncing the word “Xhosa”.  Throughout the press junket, the pair cracked jokes with Taraji emulating Cookie, much to the media’s amusement.
