Away from the hard news environment she’s a seasoned speaker who’s equally at home deliberating on spiritual issues. Thami Ngubeni, bless her, was recently announced as one of the headliners at the ‘Back to Basics Cross Over Festival’ in Middelburg in Mpumalanga. The annual event is organized by Big Fish Events in association with Steve Tshwete local Municipality and the bill is chockfull with pertinent crowd pleasers of the day including, Andile KaMajola, Dumi Mkokstad, Sipho Makhabane, etc.

Said Thami Ngubeni: “I will be speaking that evening… a message along the lines of new beginnings, the power of choice and establishing solid foundations.”

Steve Tshwete local Municipality’s Marcus Masemola who’s the project coordinator for the event has expressed his eagerness for the festival goers to receive inspiring teaching and getting Thami, he feels, was a great coup for the event. “It’s not just about music and worship…,” Marcus said. “We feel great about the acts on the bill and Thami’s a great fit to this year’s lineup. I’m sure this will be her first outing in Middelburg and we couldn’t be happier to have her in these parts.

“As one of the objectives of the event we want to impress on people to go back to basics in terms of our daily conduct. Morally we need to do things the right way. What’s more, we encourage the community to inculcate ubuntu in the young.”

Back to Basics Crossover Festival takes place at Themba Senamela Stadium, in Mpumalanga on the 31th December 2015. Entrance is free.
