The Simpsons mourn passing of a voiceover member

The voice of the perpetually disappointed schoolteacher on the long-running The Simpsons’ show has died.

Marcia Wallace, who voices Edna Krabappel on ‘The Simpsons’ has died.

According to reports Wallace passed away on Sunday evening in Los Angeles, with her family by her side.

Wallace (70) had been ill for some time and eventually succumbed to pneumonia complications.

Wallace has been on TV since the 70's and spent 3 decades on various game show panels like Hollywood Squares,

The $25,000 Pyramid and Match Game and also memorably played receptionist Carol Kester on The Bob Newhart Show. The actress was also a huge activist for breast cancer, after being diagnosed with the disease in 1985.
