The Kenya Film Classification Board has banned the screening and viewing of the Hollywood movie Wolf of Wall Street due to "explicit sexual content, profanity and abuse of drugs".

Kenya’s The Star newspaper reports that the board warned anyone found distributing the film based on the true story of Jordan Belfort, a wealthy stockbroker,  starring Leonardo DiCaprio, would be prosecuted.

The film has been "restricted" due to elements that include nudity, sex, alcohol, drugs and profanity.

Many Kenyans expressed their fears that the ban was never going to yield any positive effect. In fact, the ban was going to raise the curiosity of the masses to watch the movie.
