After more than 40 years in the industry producer Keoagile “Blondie” Makhene has worked with the who’s who of SA music – and he’s still churning out hits

It’s the start of the silly season when we catch up with the maestro whose holiday gig schedule includes a stint at the much-talked-about ANC congress in Mangaung.

“I’m looking forward to that,” the 57-year-old says.

He's  produced a whole legion of stars, including Tshepo Tshola, enfant terrible Brenda Fassie and the legendary Hugh Masekela.

“I’m a sangoma and as a sangoma my passion is to heal. Singing is indeed healing – it’s like balm.”

The man we meet today is a spirited, affable chap with a peerless sense of humour. And  after more than 40 years in the music industry he looks as young as he did when he first started.
