Amos Mkhonto made history in his village when he married Anna Mathebula, Merch Ntimba and Joyce Khoza in one wedding ceremony

THE people of Mangweni village in Mpumalanga province have witnessed more weddings than they can possibly remember, but there’s one that will stand out from all the others for a long time  to come.

It’s the hot topic that everyone is still talking about – from nosy housewives gossiping over the garden fence to the excited chatter of families over the dinner table.

The centre of their attention is fellow villager Amos Mkhonto (54) who recently walked down the aisle to marry not one blushing bride, but three of them – all at the same time!

Even local chief Jackson Matukane, who would otherwise be busy handling administrative matters at the Mbhunu Tribal Authority, didn’t miss the chance  of seeing the proud groom take his triple vows.

“This is a miracle! Our president has more than one wife but he never got to marry them all in one day like our man Mkhonto,” the chief says with a hearty laugh.
