Two Hawks members linked to Czech fugitive Radovan Krejcir were arrested.

Two Hawks members linked to Czech fugitive Radovan Krejcir were arrested on Tuesday morning, an official said.

“The officers are linked with Krejcir's kidnapping case only,” said Hawks spokesman Paul Ramaloko.

On Monday prosecutors named Krejcir’s co-accused in the charges of kidnapping and attempted murder, but refused to divulge more information.

Krejcir and Desai Lupondo - who was officially named by the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) on Monday - appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court, but their bail application was postponed to next Monday.

NPA spokeswoman Phindi Louw said outside court on Monday that they would not divulge any more information until then. “There are still outstanding investigations that need to be concluded,” she said.

Further details about Lupondo or his role in the alleged crime were also not disclosed.

Police said Krejcir and Lupondo were charged with kidnapping and attempted murder relating to an incident in the Ekurhuleni suburb of Elsburg in June.

However, Louw said the charges had not formally been presented before court and she could, therefore, not comment.

The men’s court appearance was held behind closed doors, with senior State prosecutor Kenny Ramavhoya citing security reasons.
