My hunger has finally paid off, Cassper Nyovest.

Hip Hop star Cassper Nyovest is one of the most celebrated artists in South Africa. That is why when his name was mentioned in five categories at the South African Music Awards (SAMA XXI) Nominees Announcement including best album and best male artist we were not suprised. Soon after the announcement DRUM caught up with him;

How are you feeling?

I am happy and pleased. I feel honored and very blessed. It's always humbling when your hard work is noticed.

So what do awards mean to you?

They mean that the hard work is paying off. And that such events would give us a pat on the back is very dope.

What was the inspiration behind Tsholofelo?

The album was inspired by hunger and the lack of having the finer things in life that I desired.

So that hunger led you here?

Yes definitely, I have always had an expensive taste so now I get to have the resources to do that. So that hunger paid off.

What has the album afforded you?

It has helped me get the car of my dreams. I also live in the kind of suburb I love and enjoy.

What is your music's message to your listeners?

That it can be done. If you work hard you can achieve your dreams.

Thats great! So DRUM BEAT is on the 28 and you will be on the line up...

Yes and people should be ready to experience my performance on a high level. I take my performances very seriously. People should expect energy and be blown away!

Watch Cassper fill you in on his DRUM BEAT performance;

DRUM BEAT is on at Soweto Theatre on the 28th of March.
