Ringo says young artist should work hard

Legendary afro prop crooner Ringo Madlingozi is planning to treat his fans to some great music as July ends. Ringo chatted to DRUM about his upcoming show at the Silverstar casino, love and more.

So Ringo, what is the show on the 14th about?

It's just t0 celebrate the end of Durban July and jam with my fans. It's a night of great music and fun with music lovers.

You have been in the music industry for decades, what would you say is your secret to your staying power?

Singing about what I know, hard work and persistence in being who I am and of course having a sound that changes with times and my uniqueness in my creative space.

What are your thoughts on the music industry in South Africa right now?

I am loving the way music has grown over the years. A lot of great and amazing things are happening and that makes me very happy.

Five things you can't live without?

Well I have six, instead of five...

That's okay. What are those six things?

  • Love
  • Peace
  • Family
  • Happiness
  • Music
  • Humor

What's your favorite song of all time?

LOVE IS IN NEED OF LOVE TODAY by Stevie Wonder. That song sums up all the world needs and with all the things that are hurtful that happen in the world love is indeed needed.

What's your advice to up and coming artists?

They must learn from what I did and follow their own paths truth and hard work.

Find Love!
