Two minutes with the Dube Brothers

We try not to cross the line when it comes to groupies.

When Pastor Benjamin Dube's sons Buhle and Sihle walked the SAMA XX1 red carpet they trended on twitter for their style and good looks. Some female fans even joked that they will now go to church because of the brothers.

DRUM caught up with the brothers to discuss their music career and being children to a respected and loved gospel legend.

Being sons to Benjamin Dube must come with so much comparison. How do you feel about that?

The comparison is inevitable. However, we understand that we are running our own race, so we don't feel pressured to be on the same level with our father. He is not our competition, he inspires us.

So, as The Dube Brothers, what's your mission or goal with your music?

To reach out to the youth and spread the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Let's talk about your album Step Up. How is it doing? You released it in 2013 right?

Yes it did. And it has been doing well. It earned two nominations at the 7th SABC Crown Gospel Awards.

So was your father your musical influence?

Yes and also our grandparents were musicians. In fact our father was a guitar player in our grandfather's band.

How do you guys deal with the female groupies and attention?

We handle them like sister's in the kingdom of God. We do embrace them but we never cross the boundaries.

Your dream for yourself?

To show young people that we can be believers and still be cool.
