Tyler Perry coming to South Africa

The brains behind the hit movies ‘Madea’s Happy family’ and ‘Why did I get married’ is coming to South Africa. Award winning Tyler Perry is going to be in Kwa-Zulu Natal in December.

The filmmaker will be at the Kwa-Zulu Natal African film festival with his filmmaking partner and fellow producer Lisa Cortes from 2 – 10 December, where they will host a workshop on Independent filmmaking.

“We found that independent producers in the country lacked the necessary skills,” said Sabelo Dludla, organiser of the KZN African film festival. He added that the workshop will help channel the talent of producers and help them run successful independent production companies.

The festival will also hold workshops for actors and directors. Film students have also been incorporated into the line – up. During the seven days of the festival they will be producing short films which will be shown at the festival.

Festival goers can also look forward to seeing proudly South African films such as Soweto drift, The Voice and Indoda Ayikhali. Coming back for the second year will be internationally acclaimed Aryan Kaganof’s ‘Uprising of Hangberg’.The documentary that focuses on the human rights violations in Hangberg, Cape Town.

The film festival will also honour the late Mabhunu Sabela, he directed the popular Zulu TV drama uDeliwe.
