Unathi Msengana swears at a fan via DM.

Metro FM DJ, musician and Idols judge, Unathi Msengana is a trending topic on Twitter for what some consider, her Monday comments on her show about the #Luister documentary, to be controversial.

“Luister is a film about Afrikaans as a language and a culture. It is a film about the continuing racism that exists within a divided society. It is a film about a group of students whose stories have been ignored. Luister is the Afrikaans word for Listen,” reads a description of the doccie on Youtube.

The documentary is based on the language issue Stellenbosch University students have been protesting over for the last few months.

A caller on the breakfast show which Unathi co-hosts on Metro FM was airing her frustrations as a student from the university herself when the Idols SA judge reportedly told her she should have done more research before registering to the institution. That didn't go down well with many people. A #UnathiBeLike hashtag was making the rounds, taking jabs at how Unathi's response would be in various situations of inequality and abuse. It was all was fun and games until Unathi responded to one @ThisIsPalo, even taking the matter to her DM (direct messages) calling her "psycho b**ch"

Efforts to contact Unathi have been unsuccessful.
