Twitter interview with the newly crowned Miss South Africa Rolene Strauss

Rolene Strauss is the newly crowned Miss South Africa.The beautiful brunette from Volksrust, Mpumalanga was crowned at a glittering ceremony at the Sun City Superbowl on Sunday. This was Rolene’s second attempt at the Miss SA crown. In 2002, she only made it to the top 5 but lost to Melinda Bam. Even though she was a picture of calmness during the crowning, it seems like it only sunk in the next morning, she told us in a Twitterview (Twitter interview) this morning.  

 Asked why she thinks she was chosen amongst the 11 finalists:

When probed by @Teboho Metsing whether pageants are still relevant, she answered with an assertive “yes, they are,” and added: “I believe they can be used as a tool to address the challenges faced by South African women.” Rolene is currently not dating and plans to remain single for the remainder of reign.

The 21-year-old medical student plans to put her studies on hold and to and continue at the end of her time as Miss SA. And her advice to 16-year-old Rolene would be?
