Walter Mokoena is back!

As of Monday, May 5, Walter Mokoena will be joining’s breakfast show, Sunrise.

The controversial former sportscaster is back in Mzansi and will soon be back on our TV screens.

He has been back since December 2013 after years of being in France, building his soccer and sports acumen.

Sticking with what he’s best at, Walter will be joining the Sunrise team as a sports presenter.

“I am excited to join and I look forward to working with the team to further develop their already extensive suite. I am fortunate to be joining such a respected organisation that prides itself in producing quality service,” he said.

He started as a sports presenter on’s Toasty Show and later went on to work for the SABC for 10 years. is certainly pleased to have snatched one of South Africa’s prodigal sons of TV before anyone else.

Sunrise executive producer, Nicholas Maphopha, says: “I am confident that Walter will play a key role in providing informative, current and entertaining presentation for our viewers especially with the upcoming Brazil FIFA Soccer World Cup”.

Sunrise is available on the HD channel (channel 104) and eKasi+ (channel 105) on OpenView HD.  OpenView HD is available at leading retail stores.
