We have decided to put together a few pictures that defined that day, as reminder of what this day is really all about, and what we are commemorating today.

Its 40 years since the 1976 Soweto Uprising, where an estimated 20 000 students from numerous Sowetan schools took to the streets to protest the use of Afrikaans as the language for instruction in schools. During the protests over 400 students were killed by police. The day is now a public holiday that is called Youth Day.
