Acting Chief Operations Officer (COO) at the SABC, Hlaudi Motsoeneng, has had a complaint laid against him with the Commission of Gender Equality.

This follows his visit to Thohoyandou in Limpopo where his arrival was welcomed with gifts which included a wife, a cow and a calf. About 10 women were reported to have been lined up for Motsoeneng to choose from.

The commission would not respond to media questions while the investigation was underway.

"We will not be providing the details on the merits and the demerits of the case as this will prejudice the investigation currently underway. As soon as the investigation is completed, the complainant as well as those interested in the outcomes of the investigation will be informed, and a formal public statement will be issued." spokesman Javu Baloyi said.

Motsoeneng and fellow SABC executives were in Limpopo for a meeting with Mudzi wa Vhurereli ha Vhavenda, a lobby group of traditional leaders and healers.

The woman Motsoeneng is a 22-year-old human resources management student, named Vanessa Mutswari.

The acting COO received the gifts because he was "committed to his job and understands the strategic objectives of the SABC".
