Your computer can make you fat

Spending hours in front of a computer can bring on cravings for fatty treats such as chocolate, cakes and biscuits. Researchers at the International Congress on Obesity in Stockholm revealed that the mental stress of computer work can trigger changes in blood sugar and hormone levels that trick the brain into thinking it’s worked off lots of kilojoules that need to be replaced. Computer games and watching TV have the same effect, they say, and suggest people who spend a lot of time in front of a computer take regular breaks and keep healthy snacks close by.
