Yvonne - She has got a heart of gold

When you ask her what her bucket list is – the things you want to do before you die – you expect the answer most people give: travelling all over the world. But not Yvonne Chaka Chaka. Her bucket list reads much more like Mother Theresa’s job description.

She wants to immerse herself in noble humanitarian causes such as helping those less fortunate than herself in any way she can.

And it’s not as if she hasn’t done enough already. Besides nurturing her own star-studded singing career and raising her four sons while running her limo service, she’s somehow found time to be a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef), to advise several company boards on educating the masses and helped fight malaria in Africa.

Not that, at the age of 46, she feels the need to compile a bucket list – in fact, she doesn’t even believe in them.

Nevertheless, Yvonne is on another mission – to attend the 17th United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Durban. Not only is she attending the convention, better known by its more user friendly acronym COP17 (Conference of the Parties), she opened proceedings with the song, These Two Hands.
