Former Egyptian player Mohamed Zidan has been sent to prison for six years.

Kicjoff.com reports that Zidan was convicted of issuing three bad cheques to a real estate company.

Zidan was instrumental to Egypt’s Africa Cup of Nations triumphs in 2008 and 2010.

Zidan, who is currently club less, has been temporarily working as a sports analyst for Al-Jazeera Sports.

He was dropped from the national team due to disciplinary problems and accusations of feigning injury.
