Crispy fried bacon snack

We’ve taken the ever-versatile #JustDelicious bacon rasher and spiced, dipped, coated and deep-fried it to create your new favourite crispy snack!

Ingredients

Crispy bacon

200g Eskort Rindless Streaky Bacon

oil for deep frying

125ml (½c) flour

65ml (¼c) Eskort Braai Spice/BBQ spice

2 eggs

65ml (¼c) milk

250ml (1c) breadcrumbs

Maple and mustard sauce

65ml (¼c) maple syrup

15ml (1T) wholegrain mustard

30ml (2T) tangy mayonnaise

3ml (½t) green Tabasco

Method

Crispy bacon

  • Preheat the oil in a large pot.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and braai spice.
  • In another mixing bowl, whisk the eggs and milk together.
  • Add the breadcrumbs to a third mixing bowl.
  • Coat each bacon rasher with the spiced flour, dip into the egg mixture and coat with breadcrumbs.
  • Place the coated rashers in the fridge for two to three minutes to set.
  • Remove the rashers from the fridge and deep-fry in the hot oil until golden brown. Drain on kitchen paper to absorb excess oil.

Maple and mustard sauce

  • Add all the ingredients to a small bowl and mix well.
  • Serve with the bacon.
