EFF results dedicated to kidnapped girls

2014-05-10 18:28

Pretoria - Economic Freedom Fighters leader Julius Malema on Saturday dedicated his party's election results to the more than 200 Nigerian school girls abducted by militants in the north of the country.

"We dedicate this victory to our beautiful girls in Nigeria.

"It looks impossible, but we have proved what looks impossible is possible," he said while briefing media at the Electoral Commission's national results operations centre.

"Africa needs to grow and there are other means of protest...please return the girls."

The tactics used by Islamic militant group Boko Haram, were "stupid" and "undermined the intelligence of the African people".

The schoolgirls were kidnapped from a school in Chibok in north-eastern Borno state by Boko Haram on 14 April.

Another eight girls were kidnapped by the group on Tuesday.
