George - The FF Plus’ election posters will remain on George lampposts a bit longer, after a thief made off with the ladder two of the party's candidates had been using to take them down.

Madeleine Dehantschutter, the party’s candidate for ward 19, and Gisela Weinmann, the party’s mayoral candidate, were taking down posters on Tuesday, Netwerk24 reported. They had started in York Road and moved on to Knysna Avenue.

They put up a ladder before quickly going into a shop. When they returned, it was gone.

Eyewitnesses said a man pulled up in a bakkie, took the ladder and drove off.

“At first we thought it was a prank and that someone had hidden the ladder,” Dehantschutter told Netwerk24.

She is very upset.

“It is about the principle. You can’t just stop and grab someone’s ladder. A ladder costs R1 600.”

She asked the guilty party to return it as she needed it to get the other posters down.

She intended laying a charge at the local police station.
