The Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) has urged all those who are eligible to vote but still have not registered to use this opportunity to register.
"This will be the last opportunity for voters to register and update their particulars," it said.
However, registration is still ongoing at IEC offices during office hours Monday to Friday until the voters' roll for the elections closes on the day the elections are proclaimed, it said.
Voting stations nationwide will be open from 08:00 to 17:00.
"Remember that during municipal elections and by-elections, you must vote at the voting station where you are registered, and you must register in the voting district in which you live most of the time," the IEC said.
The date for the election has not yet been announced, but will be held between May and August.
The last voter registration weekend saw more than three million people visiting voting stations, of which 692 730 were new registrations, 1 086 958 were re-registrations and 1 317 506 confirmed or updated their registration district.
Of the new registrations, 78.6% were under 30, meaning young people heeded calls to register and participate in the elections, the IEC said.
