Bloemfontein – The Free State ANC hopes to increase its support base in the 2016 local government elections, provincial spokesperson Thabo Meeko said on Friday.

The party would hold its local government election manifesto rally at the Sebothelo Stadium in Botshabelo on Saturday, and expected 30 000 people to attend.

President Jacob Zuma and Premier Ace Magashule were expected to speak.

Meeko said they had been conducting a door-to-door campaign, telling residents about the rally.

"On Saturday, we will be reflecting on our achievements and arming the membership of the party," he said.
