Polokwane – The older generation was increasingly finding their party's message appealing, the Economic Freedom Fighters' national chairperson Dali Mpofu said on Sunday at its election rally in Polokwane.
Speaking on the sidelines, ahead of the political party's Tshela Thupa rally at the Peter Mokaba Stadium, Mpofu said the party was surprised by the number of elderly people who had come out in support of the EFF.
"We've been labelled a party of young people, which is a good thing, but you need to start expanding. So we are very encouraged, even through this campaign, that the older generation has found our message more and more appealing," he said.
Mpofu said a political party seeking to one day gain power at a national level needed to appeal to different demographics.
"You cannot win elections at a national level if you are confined to one generation or gender," he said.
