DA names KZN councillor candidates

Durban - The Democratic Alliance on Wednesday released their list of candidate councillors at a press conference in Durban ahead of planned local government elections in August.

Referring to the candidates, Provincial leader Zwakele Mncwango said "these select" individuals were committed to moving South Africa forward.

Mcwango said South Africans were increasingly viewing the DA as their only alternative.

"Our support was confirmed by the number of applications we received from South Africans who see the DA as their only alternative and a home that [has] the interests of the people at heart," he said.

He used the opportunity to take a swipe at the ANC, saying that members of the ruling party were self-serving.

"The people of this province do not need a government that protects corrupt leaders and [leaders that] fight among themselves while the poorest of the poor continue to suffer," he said.

"The ANC has changed in KZN. It does not matter who is in charge. They put themselves first and the people last," Mncwango added.
