IEC to brief media on ward candidates

2016-06-29 07:24
(IEC)

Johannesburg - The Electoral Commission of SA (IEC) will on Wednesday brief the media on the lists of ward candidates contesting the local government elections.

The lists were finalised and certified on Monday.

The build-up to the elections has been marred by violence.

Last week, residents in various parts of Tshwane protested, looted, and destroyed property after the ANC announced Thoko Didiza as the metro's mayoral candidate.

Five people were killed and scores arrested.

The elections will be held on August 3.
