Johannesburg - British pop star Will Young arrived in South Africa on Monday for the Unite of the Stars gala evening and concerts to be held in November.

Young is the first of a string of celebrities to arrive in Cape Town for this series of concerts.

The American heart-throb Marcos Hernandez, whose debut album was recently released, arrived in South Africa on Tuesday.

The Unite of the Stars concert series will raise funds for the Nelson Mandela Foundation, the Dischem Foundation, the Unite against Hunger Fund and the Topsy Foundation.

Last year stars such as Diana Ross, Christina Aguilera and the group Westlife took part in the occasion.

Hernandez will drop in at a crocodile farm in Gauteng and also visit the Cradle of Humankind outside Krugersdorp during his stay.

The other stars, Ronan Keating, Patrizio Buanne, the group Bananarama, Shane Ward and Renee Olstead are expected to arrive in South Africa this week.

Famous actress Jane Seymour will be the guest speaker at the Unite of the Stars gala evening. During her visit she will also relax and go on a safari in the Pilanesberg area.

The first concert is on November 3 at the Bellville Velodrome outside Cape Town.

On November 4 they will be at the Pinnacle Point Garden Route casino.

The stars will perform on November 5 at the EPRU stadium in Port Elizabeth.

The gala evening is on November 9 at the Coca-Cola Dome in Northgate, Johannesburg, and the show for Gautengers is the next evening, also at the Coca-Cola Dome.
