Cape Town - Former high-jump champion Hestrie Cloete (now Els) has broken her silence for the first time since allegations of sexual molestation were made against her husband, Jurie Els.

"I stand by my husband 100% and believe completely in his innocence," she said in an exclusive interview with LIG magazine.

Hestrie and her daughter, Chrizette, 18 months, appeared on the cover of the May edition of the magazine which is already on sale.

The couple's second child is due in August and will be born in New Zealand after they had decided to leave South Africa at the end of last year.

According to the article, Hestrie had not answered most of the magazine's questions about the allegations made against her husband because the case was sub judice.

In February, Jurie obtained a temporary interdict against the publication of an article in Huisgenoot and You in which singer Robbie Klay accused him of sexual molestation.

Misses her friends and cream soda

Despite the fact that the article, which eventually appeared had been censored and Jurie had not been named, he applied for a court order that Huisgenoot's and You's national and Gauteng editor, as well as Media24 were guilty of contempt of court.

The hearing of this application was postponed to February 12 2009.

"I believe that the Lord will ensure that justice and what's right will prevail and I believe the truth will come out," said Hestrie to LIG.

In the interview, she also said she missed her friends in Pretoria and occasionally craved Creme Soda.

Crime, potholes, power cuts and load shedding were things she did not miss at all.
