TIME was really up a long ago for the Bergrivier municipal manager. Last week she threw the towel in and resigned.
Her contract that she had once hoped to renew would have expired next year, but she is leaving Bergrivier Municipality at the end of October.
I have in my pretty little hands a three-page letter that she wrote to me just 10 days ago in which she still tried to make a stand to hide her incompetence from public view, but by then I had published this post in WordPress America.
Fin24 columnist Mzwandile Jacks wrote about War on municipalities a while ago, and reader
charmaine.mcdonald2 commented that "corruption is everywhere".
We the people took on the fight and we came out victorious when news broke last week that she is quitting before everyone discovers too much of the truth.
This happens and is allowed to happen when a municipality pays a smooth talker R80 000 to R100 000 per month - plus a guaranteed thirteenth cheque - with taxpayers' money, when they really need a junior email clerk.
We have to fight this type of corruption at every opportunity that presents itself.
