Cape Town – According to a water report based in Mangaung, created by AfriForum, Bloemfontein will run out of water by September this year.

The report insists that the town of Botshabelo would be without water by August.

AriForum had the report commissioned after residents in the Rose City had reported water shortages.

CW Els, a co-ordinator for AfriForum said the information in the report will be available by Friday after the Mangaung Municipality has had enough time to analyse the report.

Researchers according to Els looked at numerous technical problems around the municipality’s ability to provide water.

The report in addition looked at the conditions of pump stations and other water purification plants.

"The projection is done based on the rainfall in the catchment areas, and the fact that the rainy season is over. The water levels in dams are quite low, and at the current usage rate water delivery is not sustainable until the next rainy season", Els said.
