Cape Town – A boiler at the Duvha power station in Witbank in Mpumalanga experienced a “pressurisation incident”, meaning it over heated causing the pressure alarm to trip.

According to Eskom the incident was inspected and damage was seen with the actual boiler and the surrounding equipment.

A person has been treated for dust inhalation.

The apparent reason for the incident is currently being investigated. Eskom engineers made an initial assessment but they have yet to release their findings.

They are currently waiting for the boiler to cool off.

Eskom admits that this incident may have a significant effect on the already tight electricity consumption in the area.

No schedule in terms of load shedding has been released so far.
