Cape Town – South Africa is fighting against time to secure alternative energy to feed the demands of South Africans says Energy Minister Ben Martins.

Speaking in Port Elizabeth at the opening of the Coega commissioned projects Martins said that South Africa, in continuing our development, must look beyond just the use of coal as a energy resource if we are to be sustainable.

Moreover Martins dismissed rumours that South Africa exports most of its good quality coal overseas.

Martins praised renewable energy endeavours that will aid the country in its energy burden and will help avoid instances of load shedding.
