A new humanitarian project has been set up in Gauteng and Kwa Zulu Natal. The project is called Farm for a lifetime. The aim is to build two farms with a fundraising, where “essential agricultural and business skills within the community, jobs and a growing local economy” would be developed, according to Donald Nelson Mc Lellan, the marketing portfolio Manager of Broll Property Group who’s the funder of the project. Those two farms will be located in Alexandra Township in Gauteng and on Bombay Road, in Pietermaritzburg, Kwa Zulu Natal. The long term vision of the project is to “set up facilities where workshops on agriculture can be presented to School Learners” revealed Mc Lellan. To build those farms, R400 000 are needed. “They will be about 20 people employed at both farms” declared McLellan. “As the farms grow more people will be employed”.In the meantime, around 20 shopping centres have already joined the initiative. Some of them involved are East Point Shopping Centre, Town Square, Pine Walk Centre and NorthPark Mall. 13 of them are located in Gauteng, so shoppers and visitors can feel “concerned for their communities” states the funder of Farm for a lifetime. Those Shopping Centres joined forces to reach more people via advertising in malls, but also online. The idea is to “make Every Day a Mandela Day” said Donald Nelson Mc Lellan. The project was launched by SA Corporate Real Estate Limited in partnership with the Gift of the Givers Foundation. The Gift of the Givers foundation is an organisation helping with disaster relief on the African continent. They support 42 countries around the world, including South Africa. They already have delivered R2 billion in aid since their creation.
