WATCH: Drowning in waste, Russians fume over lack of recycling

The rubbish towers above the Timokhovo dump outside of Moscow is one of the biggest in Europe.

Authorities plan to build an incinerator to burn some of the trash but activists want it to be recycled.

Only 7% of rubbish is recycled in Russia, compared to 43% in France an 68% in Germany, while the majority of household waster ends up in locations like Timokhovo.

Authorities now want to unload some of the local landfills near Moscow to the Arkhangelsk region.
