WATCH: Extreme weather in Japan confuses cherry blossoms

After heatwaves and super storms in recent months, some of Japan's famous cherry blossoms are blooming, six months early.

Typhoons weakened chemicals that usually suppress the flowers. The storms stripped away leaves or covered them in salty water.

But experts say it's only a small percentage of the trees that won't be blooming as usual come spring.
